What Rebonding Products Do Malaysian Salons Use?
Share
Quick answer: A rebonding service needs a softening cream (Step 1) matched to the client's hair strength, a neutraliser (Step 2), a treatment during the service, a good ceramic flat iron, and aftercare for the client to take home. Systems commonly used in Malaysian salons, all stocked by NX, include Venash Professional Shine & Silky, L'Oréal Professionnel X'tenso, Shiseido Crystallizing Straight, XINGWEI Mirror Rebonding and Landuo Rebonding Cream.

How to choose a rebonding system
- By hair strength: you need a strength for each type of client you see. That means normal and resistant for virgin hair, and a sensitized or mild option for coloured or previously treated hair.
- By your salon's volume: large salon sizes (Venash 1000ml, XINGWEI 700ml, Landuo 750g) suit busy salons, while 400g packs suit lower volumes.
- By the result you want: classic poker-straight rebonding, or a softer thermal straightening with more natural movement.
- Always keep the system together: use each brand's own neutraliser and follow its timing and iron temperature.
The rest of the rebonding kit
- A ceramic flat iron with adjustable heat. The Venash Professional Hair Iron has ceramic plates, three heat settings and three plate widths: narrow for fringes, standard, and wide for long, thick hair. NX also stocks TUFT and Glampalm irons.
- A treatment during the service. Art*s Collection Kera-LPT Treatment is an amino acid and keratin treatment for chemically processed hair, and can also be used as a pre-treatment.
- Aftercare to sell to clients: Venash Smoothing Shampoo (formulated for rebonding-treated hair), Treatment Masque and Smooth Intense Serum.
- Sectioning clips and fine-tooth combs for clean, thin sections when ironing.

Frequently asked questions
Which rebonding cream is best for damaged or coloured hair?
Use the mildest strength in the system you use: X'tenso Sensitized, Shiseido N or S, or a damage-strength option. Always do a strand test first. Heavily bleached hair is often too weak to rebond safely.
What temperature should the iron be for rebonding?
Follow the system you're using. Shiseido Crystallizing specifies 180°C or lower, and XINGWEI specifies 140–180°C. Use lower heat on finer or previously treated hair.
Is rebonding the same as Japanese straightening?
They work on the same principle: soften, straighten with heat, then neutralise. "Thermal straightening" systems such as Shiseido Crystallizing are often described as Japanese straightening, and usually give a slightly softer, more natural finish.
Can I mix one brand's softener with another brand's neutraliser?
It isn't recommended. Each system's Step 1 and Step 2 are designed to work together, with their own timings.
