YTS - AFRO METAL TAIL COMB (SMALL HANDLE) - 12'S
Description
Long metal pins that lift and separate dense, coily texture without dragging.
A professional afro pick built with long metal pins rather than moulded plastic teeth. The pins are slim, smoothly finished and set in a slight outward fan, so they travel through tightly coiled and densely packed hair with far less resistance than a plastic pick — lifting from the root, separating the curl and building height and shape without compressing the texture. The black handle carries a ribbed shoulder for grip and narrows to a slim, comfortable hold, with an oval cut-out at the base that takes a hook or peg for hanging storage.
Key Features
- Long metal pins in a slightly fanned set — glide through dense, coily texture with minimal drag
- Lifts from the root to build height, shape and volume
- Ribbed handle shoulder for a secure grip through repeated lifting strokes
- Slim tapered handle that narrows to a rounded base
- Oval cut-out through the base — takes a hook or peg for hanging storage
- Small handle format — compact in the hand and easy to carry in an apron pocket
- 23cm long x 6.5cm wide
How to Use
- Work on dry or damp hair, section by section.
- Insert the pins at the root, holding the handle so the pins sit flat against the scalp rather than angled into it.
- Lift outward and upward through the section in a smooth stroke, letting the pins do the work.
- Repeat around the head, building height evenly.
- For shaping, take shorter strokes through the outer surface to even out the silhouette.
- Do not force the pick through a knot — release it, detangle the section first, then continue.
Cautions
- For professional and adult use. The pins are long and slim — keep away from children.
- Metal pins. Work gently against the scalp and never push or scrape the pins into the skin.
- Do not force the pick through tangles or knots. Detangle first, then lift.
- Metal conducts heat. Keep away from irons, tongs, dryers and hood dryers, and take care handling after any heat exposure.
- Check your colour or lightener instructions before use during a chemical service. Some lightening and colour products specifically instruct against metal tools during processing.
- Inspect the pins before each use. Retire the comb if any pin is bent, loose, burred or corroded, or if the handle is cracked.
- Rinse and dry thoroughly after contact with colour, bleach or perm chemistry. Do not leave soaking in salon chemicals.
Storage
Dry the pins fully before storing — moisture sitting at the base of the pins where they enter the handle is what starts corrosion on any metal comb. Hang by the handle cut-out or store flat in a drawer or tool tray, away from damp and direct heat.
