A curved spine that follows the shape of the head, and two notched teeth that grip instead of sliding.

This one is shaped rather than straight. The spine curves along its length so the comb sits against the contour of the head rather than fighting it — useful working around the crown and through the sides, and for scissor-over-comb on curved areas where a flat comb lifts away. Fine, closely spaced teeth run along one half for sectioning and combing flat before the cut; the other half opens into longer, widely spaced teeth for wet and thick hair. At the far end, two teeth carry a notched edge that catches and holds hair rather than letting it slide straight through — handy when you want a section to stay put. Model 196, in blue.

How to Use

1. Use the widely spaced end to work through wet or tangled hair, starting at the ends and moving up, and to distribute product through the lengths.
2. Turn to the fine-tooth end to take clean sections and comb the hair flat for cutting.
3. Let the curve sit against the head when working around the crown and sides rather than forcing the comb flat.
4. Use the notched teeth at the outer end where you need a section to hold rather than slip.
5. Rinse and wipe down after use.

Cautions

Check the comb before each use and discard it if any tooth is cracked, bent or has a rough edge — a damaged tooth will snag and can scratch the scalp. The notched teeth grip hair by design, so draw them through gently rather than pulling. Work through tangles from the ends rather than forcing from the roots. Keep away from direct heat, hot irons and open flame. Do not use as a heat-resistant comb unless the manufacturer confirms it is rated for that. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage

Wash and dry after use, and store flat or hanging in a dry place away from heat and direct sunlight.
