A broad, flat tail that doubles as a handle — and a gently curved head that follows the shape of the scalp.

A tail comb with a wider, flatter tail than the usual needle-thin type. That extra width gives you something substantial to hold, so the comb sits comfortably in the hand through long sessions of sectioning or backcombing, and it still tapers to a point fine enough to draw a clean parting. The head carries closely spaced fine teeth along a gently curved spine, which lets the comb follow the contour of the scalp rather than sitting flat against it. Moulded in one piece with no metal parts. Model 187, in blue.

How to Use

1. Hold the comb by the tail — the flat profile gives a stable grip for detailed work.
2. Use the tail point to draw partings, resting it against the scalp and pulling through in one steady movement.
3. Use the fine teeth to comb sections smooth, to lift at the root, or to backcomb.
4. Turn the tail to lift and separate sections, or to sweep hair back before clipping it away.
5. Rinse and wipe down after use.

Cautions

The tail tapers to a point — keep it away from the eyes and never point it toward a client's face. Draw partings with steady, even pressure rather than digging into the scalp. Check the comb before each use and discard it if the tail is cracked or bent, or if any tooth is chipped or has a rough edge. Keep away from direct heat, hot irons and open flame. Do not use as a heat-resistant comb unless the manufacturer confirms it is rated for that. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage

Wash and dry after use, and store flat or hanging in a dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Store where the tail can't be bent or leaned on.
