The 5 Star Detailer Li is Wahl's line-up trimmer. The extended T-Wide blade gives a 40.6mm cutting width, wider than a standard trimmer blade, which is what lets you pull a straighter shape-up in fewer passes and take out bulk without switching tools. Behind it sits a clipper-grade motor running at 7200 RPM, so it holds its speed through thick and coarse hair rather than bogging down at the line.

The blade cuts at 0.4mm and adjusts to zero-gap with the included alignment tool. At 190g it stays light through a full day of detail work, and the smart LED tells you at a glance whether you're charged, running low, or still topping up.

Cord or cordless, with up to 100 minutes on a charge and a full charge in 45 minutes. If you're caught short, one minute on the stand buys you about four minutes of running — enough to finish the client in front of you.

How to Use

Charging

Charge for 45 minutes to an hour before first use. Make sure the trimmer is switched OFF while charging. Connect the transformer plug into the receptacle in the back of the stand and seat the trimmer facing forward, or plug the transformer directly into the trimmer.

The LED pulses while charging and turns solid once the battery is full. In use it stays solid, and flashes when around 20% charge remains.

If you leave the cord attached with the trimmer switched off, it will keep the battery topped up.

Cordless use

Switch on, use, and switch off after use. A full charge gives up to 100 minutes of continuous running.

Corded use

Disconnect the transformer from the back of the stand and connect it to the receptacle on the bottom of the trimmer. If the battery has run completely flat, let it charge for 1 minute with the trimmer switched off before running it corded.

Do not run the trimmer corded with a fully charged battery.

Zero-gapping

Use the included alignment tool to adjust the blades precisely. Check the blade assembly moves freely and is correctly mounted before use.

Cleaning and oiling

After each use, brush loose hair from the housing and blade set. Oil frequently — one drop in the centre of the moving top blade and one drop at each end, a three-point oiling system. Run the trimmer briefly to distribute the oil, then wipe away any excess. Periodically oil the heel of the blade. Wipe the housing with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

Use only Wahl blade oil. Other lubricants can damage the blades and the trimmer, and will void the warranty.

• Do not use with a damaged or broken blade, cutter bar or attachment — this can cause facial injury
• Reduce pressure when cutting close to the skin; too much pressure, a damaged blade set or a misaligned blade set can cause skin injury
• Do not store or charge below 0°C or above 45°C, and avoid direct sunlight — charging outside this range can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire
• Do not use outdoors, or while aerosol sprays are being used
• Never use solvents, scouring agents, bleach or benzene on the appliance
• Do not crush, disassemble, heat above 100°C, or incinerate — risk of fire, explosion or burns
• Do not attempt to remove the lithium-ion battery. Batteries can explode, catch fire or cause burns if disassembled, damaged, or exposed to water or high temperatures. Battery replacement must be carried out by Wahl or a qualified professional
• For use on human hair, beard hair and eyebrows only — use dedicated animal clippers for animal hair
• Do not carry the appliance by the mains cable, or pull on the cable to disconnect it
• Do not wind the cable around the appliance for storage
• Keep the cable away from hot surfaces, and do not twist or kink it
• Always switch off before storage, as vibration can make the appliance fall
• Do not dispose of the appliance or its lithium battery in household waste

Storage

Store dry, in the charging stand or a drawer, with the blade guard fitted. Keep between 0°C and 45°C and out of direct sunlight. Coil the cord loosely rather than winding it around the trimmer.
