Three speeds, three heats, magnetic attachments — and a reverse-flow cycle that cleans its own filter.

The M2 Max is a slim, high-speed dryer with the controls set into the handle where your thumb already sits. Three fan speeds and three heat settings adjust independently, each with its own row of indicator lights — blue for speed, red for heat — so you can see where you are without turning the dryer over.

The cold shot is a single button, and pressing it doesn't disturb your speed setting. Press it again and you're straight back to where you were, which matters when you're setting an end and don't want to reset the whole thing mid-section.

All three attachments clip on magnetically. There's an iron ring around the air outlet and a magnet in each attachment, so they pull into place on their own and come off with a tug — no twisting, no lining up a bayonet with wet hands.

The feature worth knowing about is the reverse dust removal cycle. Hold the cold air button while switching the dryer on and it runs backwards for ten seconds, pushing dust and lint back out of the intake filter instead of drawing it further in. It then exits on its own. In a salon where a dryer breathes hair clippings all day, that's the difference between a filter you clean and one you forget about until the airflow drops.

The rear filter also unscrews for proper cleaning, and the end cap comes off entirely.

How to Use

Starting up

Set the power switch to 0 before plugging in. Insert the plug into a matching socket, then move the switch to I to power on.

Fan speed

Press the fan button to cycle through the three speeds — 1, 2, 3, then back down. The number of blue lights on the handle shows the setting.

Heat

Press the heat button to cycle through the three heat settings the same way. The number of red lights shows the setting.

Cold shot

Press the cold air button to switch to cold. Your fan speed stays where it was. Press the cold air button or the heat button again to return to the setting you were on.

Attachments

Hold an attachment near the air outlet and let the magnet pull it into place. Pull it straight off to remove or swap.

Reverse dust removal

With the dryer plugged in and switched off, press and hold the cold air button, then switch the power on at the same time. The dryer runs in reverse for 10 seconds and exits the mode automatically. Switch off, then on again for normal use.

After use

Return the switch to 0, unplug, and store.

Servicing

FirePhoenix recommends a full internal clean by your dealer every six months, to clear tangled hair and dust from inside the housing and fan.

Cautions

Read the instruction manual before use.

• Never leave the dryer unattended while it is running. After use, or after a power cut, switch to 0 and unplug it
• Do not use in the bath or shower, and do not use near a bathtub, basin, or any container of water
• Do not handle with wet hands
• If used in a bathroom, unplug immediately after use — proximity to water is a hazard even with the appliance switched off. Fitting a residual current device (RCD) rated at no more than 30mA to the bathroom circuit gives additional protection; ask a qualified electrician
• Not to be used by children under 8. Children aged 8 and over, and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience, may use it only with supervision or instruction on safe use and an understanding of the hazards. Children must not play with the appliance, and cleaning or user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person
• Do not block the air intake filter or the air outlet while the dryer is running
• Keep the intake filter clear of hair and lint
• Do not dispose of the appliance in household waste

If the dryer stops working: strong fluctuations in the mains supply can put it into a protective mode. Switch it off, unplug it, wait a few seconds, plug it back in and switch it on again.

Storage

Store dry, away from direct heat and sunlight. Hang by the cord loop or lay flat. Coil the cord loosely rather than winding it tightly around the handle.
